Approve six-year contract for purchasing Fire Apparatus trucks

Message and order authorizing the City of Boston Procurement Department to enter into a contract for a period of up to six (6) years for the purchase of Fire Apparatus (ladder, pumper, and tower trucks). The contract term would begin in September 2026 and end December 31, 2031. The City Council’s permission to enter into a contract of this type for a period of more than three years is required by section twelve of Chapter 30B of the General Laws. A term longer than three years will enable the City to ensure that the contract is in effect while the apparatus are being built for all three (3) fiscal year orders. Year 1 will be ordered in August of 2026, year 2 ordered in July of 2027, and year 3 ordered in July of 2027. The expected lead time for the apparatus is between twenty-four (24) to thirty-six (36) months, with delivery and payment for the final apparatus expected during 2031.
